Marreese Speights just wanted his shoe back.

The Golden State Warriors big man’s left sneaker fell off during a game against the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday. It remained on the floor for two full possessions, until teammate Stephen Curry tried to help Speights out by tossing the rogue shoe in his direction as he ran down the court.

Enter Tyson Chandler.

Chandler had 1,154 blocks in his career through Saturday, but his swat of Speights’ shoe might be the most impressive.

As you might expect, the Mavericks center was asked about his bold move after the game, and he wasn’t exactly shy about revealing his strategy.

“It was tactical for sure,” Chandler said, via ESPN.com. “You can’t run with a sock on. I was hoping that we could exploit that on the other end until they had to call a timeout or he had to foul, either or. But we didn’t take advantage of it.

“I’m doing everything to try to win. I don’t care what it is, if it’s hitting a shoe or hitting whatever it is.”

Yet even Chandler’s best shoe-swatting efforts weren’t enough to down the red-hot Warriors, who won 105-98 to earn their 15th straight victory. Check out the video below to follow the eventful full journey of Speights’ shoe.
