It should have counted.
Liverpool was tied with Aston Villa at halftime Sunday when manager Brendan Rodgers hoped to find a spark in sensational Italian striker Mario Balotelli. Rodgers went with his gut and subbed Balotelli into the game.
Turns out his gut was right.
Balotelli scored what should have been the equalizer in the 88th minute, but officials disallowed the goal, instead saying Balotelli was offsides.
Liverpool lost the match 2-1.
Check out the slow-motion video below that proves the call incorrect.
That one stings a bit.
Balotelli took to Instagram after the game with a message for the officials and Aston Villa.
