According to Roger Goodell, the wait almost is over.

The NFL commissioner has yet to rule on Tom Brady’s appeal after the New England Patriots quarterback made his case to Goodell more than three weeks ago. At a media and tech conference in Sun Valley, Idaho, though, Goodell told CNBC’s Julia Boorstin that could change in the near future.

Goodell’s remark doesn’t exactly guarantee a decision is around the corner, but it represents some hope for fans who have been waiting to get a final verdict on the four-game suspension Brady received almost two months ago.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft also is in attendance at the high-powered conference, and the two were seen walking together in a photo taken Wednesday. According to Goodell, though, he and Kraft were just having an innocent chat.

Whatever you say, Roger.

While a timetable appears to be set for a decision on Brady, the same can’t be said for Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy, who still is waiting for a ruling on his appeal of the 10-game suspension he received all the way back in April.
