Matt Jones couldn’t have have hit his tee shot on the par-4 ninth hole any worse than he did Saturday during the third round of the PGA Championship. But a little bit of creativity helped him escape with only minimal damage.
Jones entered the third round in the lead at Whistling Straits, and he was having a solid day until he stepped up to the ninth hole. That’s when he hit his tee shot well to the left and onto a hospitality tent.

Jones had some options, but he decided to go the Phil Mickelson route and play the ball off the tent.

Jones ended up bogeying the hole, but it could have been a whole lot worse after that tee shot.
