It isn’t pretty, but Rory McIlroy is working hard to get back on the golf course.
The four-time major winner missed the British Open after injuring his ankle playing soccer just two weeks before the tournament. Just how bad was the injury? McIlroy took to Instagram to reveal the answer: pretty darn bad.

That doesn’t look like an ankle that’s ready to support McIlroy in the PGA Championship, which begins just a week from Thursday.
A further look at his Instagram suggests otherwise, though, as the Northern Ireland native on Wednesday posted a video of himself doing an impressive rehab workout.

McIlroy took things one step further Thursday, revealing he’s already returned to the driving range to take some swings.

It remains to be seen whether the 2014 PGA Championship winner will try to defend his title at Whistling Straits next week. But it certainly looks like he wants to make it happen.
