The #49ers are benching QB Colin Kaepernick, I'm told. He has been informed. Blaine Gabbert is the starter.

#49ers players were split on Colin Kaepernick & the brass stayed with him as long as it could. Benched now (@Kyle_McLorgBASG 1st reported)

Original story: Hold on to your paycheck, Colin Kaepernick. It might be the only thing you have left.
San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Tomsula spoke to the media Monday and implied that quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s job is not automatically safe any more.

Considering how terribly Kaepernick has played of late — including missing a wide-open, uncovered receiver Sunday — it’s no surprise that Tomsula is giving considerable thought to playing backup QB Blaine Gabbert.
Tomsula also could just be trying to light a fire under Kaepernick’s butt, though we’d proceed cautiously if that’s his method of choice. All that will accomplish is burning the pile of money Kap is comfortably sitting on.
