When Green Bay Packers linebacker Julius Peppers tried to stop Cam Newton from giving his touchdown ball to a fan, he almost prevented a 6-year-old boy from getting the cherry on top of the best day of his life.
Colin Toler’s father had promised to take him to a Carolina Panthers game someday, but the 6-year-old’s dad died Sept. 30 of a medical condition. Some family friends purchased tickets for Colin to go to the Panthers-Packers game with both of his grandfathers, and Colin had the time of his life in the end-zone seats thanks to Newton’s touchdown tradition.
Without knowing Colin’s story, Newton handed his second-quarter touchdown ball to him, and WSET-TV told the story.

Even though Newton didn’t know he was doing a good thing, it’s still the latest feel-good story to come out of Carolina. The team also recently sent a care package to a 16-year-old whose father was murdered five days before he was supposed to take his sons to their first Panthers game.
