For the second year in a row, former New England Patriots cornerback Ty Law has been named a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The Hall released a list of 25 modern-era semifinalists Tuesday, which will be whittled to 15 finalists in January. The list included 15 offensive and six defensive players, along with one specialist and three coaches. There also were three new first-year candidates — quarterback Brett Favre, wide receiver Terrell Owens and guard Alan Faneca.
Law, who already is a member of the Patriots Hall of Fame, was drafted by New England in the first round of the 1995 NFL Draft and spent 10 seasons there. The 41-year-old was a five-time Pro Bowler and was a first-team All-Pro two times. He also was a semifinalist in 2015.
