Cam Newton has a new reason to celebrate.
The Carolina Panthers quarterback and his longtime girlfriend, Kia Proctor, welcomed a baby boy to their family last week. The NFL MVP favorite announced the news Wednesday on Twitter.
My longtime girlfriend and I were extremely blessed to have a son last week. Our family is excited and thank you all for the well wishes!

The baby boy was born on Christmas Eve, sources told ESPN’s David Newton, which explains why the QB left practice early that day. It also explains why Cam Newton dropped his signature dab in favor of a “rockin’ the baby asleep” touchdown celebration during the Panthers’ loss last weekend.
Cam dance, Rock the baby, Gives the ball to a little boy. 💯 https://t.co/24TKMfyONw

Newton also tweeted an explanation for why he waited to announce the news.
I've been quiet about this because I didn't want to create a distraction for my team and appreciate the privacy in this joyous time.
