Carson Smith is ready for the next chapter of his young career.
The Boston Red Sox acquired Smith and Roenis Elias from the Seattle Mariners on Monday in exchange for Wade Miley and Jonathan Aro. Smith, who was drafted by Seattle in the eighth round in 2011, hopped on Twitter shortly after the trade to express his feelings.
Before the day passes, I would just like to show appreciation for the SEA org. and fans. It was an amazing ride that I'll never forget…

I would say more but it's tough to squeeze my emotions into a 140 character tweet.

Miley is a reliable starter, having totaled at least 29 starts and 193 2/3 innings each of the last four seasons. But adding Smith bolsters Boston’s bullpen, which suddenly looks very good.
The Red Sox should be excited about their new relief corps — just as Smith is excited to join it.
