Duke won its first bowl game since the 1961 Cotton Bowl on Saturday with a 44-41 overtime victory over Indiana in the Pinstripe Bowl. However, the game ended in a controversial way.
The Blue Devils were down by one touchdown late in the fourth quarter at Yankee Stadium, but a Thomas Sirk 5-yard TD run forced overtime. Duke carried that momentum to its first drive, which finished with a Ross Martin 36-yard field goal.
Indiana’s opening drive in overtime also ended with a field-goal attempt, but Griffin Oakes’ 38-yard try was called no good.
