Kevin Garnett: ‘Gino Time’ Was ‘Cherry On Top’ Of Return To Boston (Video)

BOSTON — Nobody loves “Gino Time” more than Kevin Garnett, and the Celtics made sure he heard it before leaving TD Garden on Monday night.

With just over a minute remaining in Boston’s eventual 113-99 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, head coach Brad Stevens called for a timeout, allowing the arena staff to cue up the Celtics’ victory anthem.

“That’s what I was thinking the whole time,” Stevens joked after the game. “No, I was subbing, but in retrospect, that was a hell of a call.”

The first notes of the Bee Gees’ “You Should Be Dancing” sent the Garden faithful — which had been chanting “We Want KG” throughout the night — into a frenzy, and Garnett walked out onto the parquet to acknowledge the crowd.

“That was like the cherry on top for me,” said Garnett, who did not play in the game. “My teammates were looking at me like, ‘What is this?’ I was like, ‘I’ll explain later.’ But thank you. Thank you to whoever put the Gino on. I know my guys here put it on for me, so I appreciate that.”
