Blair Walsh’s girlfriend slapped on a pair of Twitter earmuffs.
Walsh missed a potential game-winning field goal Sunday in the final minute of the Minnesota Vikings’ 10-9 NFC Wild Card Game loss to the Seattle Seahawks, prompting a bunch of social media backlash. The Vikings kicker has the full support of his girlfriend, Sarah Chaffee, though. She reminded everyone after the costly miss that Walsh actually was one of Minnesota’s stars against Seattle.
vikings were not in a position to win the game w/out @BlairWalsh3 keep in mind he scored evry pt today. also handled himself like class act

Chaffee, a TV news reporter, kind of has a point. Then again, she doesn’t.
Sure, Walsh nailed three field goals in the incredibly cold conditions and the Vikings might not have been in a position to lose if running back Adrian Peterson didn’t fumble in the fourth quarter. But a kicker essentially has one job — to split the uprights when asked — and a 27-yard field goal with less than 30 seconds remaining should have been a chip shot regardless of what happened to that point.
If nothing else, give credit to Chaffee for defending her man. Walsh needs the support now more than ever, as his miss already is being considered one of the worst in NFL playoff history.
It also should be noted that Chaffee’s tweet wasn’t the only show of support for Walsh after Sunday’s debacle. Walsh’s sister, Sarah Colonna (fiancée of Seahawks punter Jon Ryan), U.S. soccer player Jozy Altidore and others also offered words of encouragement.
Forever and always proud of my brother @BlairWalsh3

If you're a Vikings fan and giving the kicker a hard time, pls note he's the only reason they had any points. I hate people.

You know he scored the only points they had right? https://t.co/hBdl5mciVG
