The video quickly went viral, and the announcement and statement from the Missouri athletic department came about two hours later.

Mauk is no stranger to off-the-field issues. He was arrested in August 2013 on suspicion of traffic-related offenses after allegedly crashing his scooter. He also was suspended during the 2015 season for unspecified reasons. Mauk eventually was reinstated, but three days after that, he again was suspended — this time for the rest of the season — for a drunken altercation at a bar.
