4:55 p.m.: Not a surprise.

4:45 p.m.: The Ducks made another good trade to free up salary cap space this season and next season.
Believe Pat Maroon may be on the move from Anaheim to Edmonton for a prospect and a mid-round pick.
— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) February 29, 2016
They made this one, too.
Ducks trade Jackman and a seventh-round pick to Chicago for prospect Corey Tropp..

4 p.m.: It appears everything finally has settled down. Here’s a look at some of NESN.com’s NHL trade deadline content, with plenty more to come, including a live stream of the Bruins’ post-trade deadline news conference at 5 p.m. ET from TD Garden.
Reports: Bruins Trade For John-Michael Liles, Lee Stempniak; Loui Eriksson Stays
2016 NHL Trade Deadline: Recapping Winners, Losers As Playoff Race Heats Up
3:50 p.m.: Here’s the reported return on the Ducks’ acquisition of Jamie McGinn from the Buffalo Sabres.
Conditional 3rd from ANA for McGinn. Could become 2nd.
— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) February 29, 2016
3:46 p.m.:Â There’s been buzz for almost the entire hour since the trade deadline expired that the Anaheim Ducks might have gotten a move in before the deadline. It appears they have, according to multiple outlets, as the Ducks reportedly acquired forward Jamie McGinn from the Buffalo Sabres.
McGinn to ANA from BUF.
— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) February 29, 2016
3:35 p.m.:Â Apparently the Bruins gave up even more than first believed. Here’s what they’re sending to New Jersey, according to Elliotte Friedman.
https://twitter.com/FriedgeHNIC/status/704404230006829056
3:32 p.m.:Â The Montreal Canadiens traded Devante Smith-Pelly to New Jersey for Stefan Matteau.
The Canadiens have acquired Stefan Matteau from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Devante Smith-Pelly.
— Canadiens Montréal (@CanadiensMTL) February 29, 2016
3:16 p.m.:Â Here are the reported returns on the John-Michael Liles and Lee Stempniak deals for the Bruins.
Believe the return on Liles to Boston is a third-round pick, a fifth-round pick and prospect Anthony Camara
— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) February 29, 2016
3:13 p.m.:Â Speaking of buzzer-beaters, the Bruins also have acquired Lee Stempniak from the New Jersey Devils, according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie.
Stempniak to BOS.
— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) February 29, 2016
Stempniak has 16 goals and 25 assists in 63 games this season.
3:12 p.m.:Â The New York Islanders also beat the buzzer in adding some forward depth, reportedly acquiring Shane Prince from the Ottawa Senators.
Trade call is done: #Isles get F Shane Prince and a 2016 7th round pick for a 2016 3rd round pick.
— Arthur Staple (@StapeAthletic) February 29, 2016
3:06 p.m.:Â Jonathan Drouin is staying put, and the Lightning aren’t doing anything.
Can confirm Jonathan Drouin was NOT traded before the deadline
— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) February 29, 2016
The six trade-deadline deals across the league would be the fewest since 1987.
3:04 p.m.:Â Meanwhile, the Bruins reportedly didn’t trade Loui Eriksson.
Loui Eriksson was not traded
— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) February 29, 2016
3:02 p.m.:Â The Bruins reportedly made a trade before the deadline, acquiring John-Michael Liles from the Carolina Hurricanes, according to TVA’s Renaud Lavoie.
#hurricanes trade John-Micheal Liles aux #bruins #tvasports
— Renaud Lavoie (@renlavoietva) February 29, 2016
3:01 p.m.:Â So much for the Dallas Stars acquiring Dan Hamhuis, or at least that’s what the reports are indicating.
Stars source says no trade was done with Vancouver as deadline came and went.
— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) February 29, 2016
3 p.m.:Â Trade talks should now cease, as we’ve hit the 3 p.m. ET deadline. Now we sit and wait to hear of any trades that might have went down before the buzzer.
2:57 p.m.:Â The Bruins might be turning their attention to Carolina defenseman John-Michael Liles.
Bruins among the teams showing late interest in J-M Liles…
— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) February 29, 2016
2:52 p.m.:Â Are the Chicago Blackhawks jumping in and joining the Dan Hamhuis sweepstakes? Sure sounds like it.
https://twitter.com/FriedgeHNIC/status/704393771492970496
Not convinced anything is going to happen with Hamhuis, but Chicago not entirely out of the mix. #Canucks
— Dan Murphy (@sportsnetmurph) February 29, 2016
Dallas reportedly is still in the running, though.
https://twitter.com/FriedgeHNIC/status/704393922869596160
2:45 p.m.:Â So much for that.
15 minutes to deadline. Drouin Watch still on. Sense seems to be most of TB's action is future considerations more than here and now help.
— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) February 29, 2016
2:40 p.m.:Â It’s almost 3 p.m., and the Boston Bruins remain quiet, although that could change at the drop of a hat. Most of the questions center around Loui Eriksson.
Bruins still listening to offers on Loui Eriksson. 14 team no trade list. Hasn't been asked to waive yet, so assume working with yes list.
— Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) February 29, 2016
2:37 p.m.:Â Nick Kypreos on Sportsnet just now said he “fully” expects the Dallas Stars to land defenseman Dan Hamhuis. We shall see.
2:33 p.m.:Â Time is short, and the Dallas Stars are trying to really make a splash, according to Sportsnet’s John Shannon.
Can confirm the Stars have made one last ditch effort to acquire Dan Hamhuis. #NHLTrade
— John Shannon (@JShannonhl) February 29, 2016
2:19 p.m.:Â You had to know the Anaheim Ducks weren’t going to just sit back and watch the day pass them by. They’ve reportedly acquired Brandon Pirri from the Florida Panthers for just a sixth-round pick, according to reports.
#FlaPanthers have traded Brandon Pirri to Anaheim in exchange for a 6th round pick.
— Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) February 29, 2016
2:12 p.m.:Â The Bruins might not be alone in the chase for Dan Hamhuis. Not only do the Dallas Stars reportedly have interest, the Pittsburgh Penguins might be in the mix, although they could run into the same issues Boston reportedly faces.
In addition to BOS, PIT is trying to get in on Hamhuis but we continue to believe, for now, Hamhuis not interested in waiving there.
— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) February 29, 2016
2:10 p.m.:Â The Boston Globe’s Fluto Shinzawa just brought us this, on the Bruins and Dan Hamhuis.
As of 10 minutes ago, Bruins were not close on Dan Hamhuis.
— Fluto Shinzawa (@FlutoShinzawa) February 29, 2016
1:53 p.m.:Â More on Dan Hamhuis’ no-trade clause and what it could mean for the Bruins.
Regarding BOS interest in Hamhuis, he has full NTC and isn't likely to want to go east to BOS.
— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) February 29, 2016
1:50 p.m.:Â Dan Hamhuis seems like he’d be a nice addition for the Bruins, but what if he doesn’t want to come to Boston? He has a no-trade clause in his contract, and, well …
I don't believe Hamhuis would waive to go to #Bruins.
— Dan Murphy (@sportsnetmurph) February 29, 2016
1:45 p.m.:Â With Kris Russell off the board, are the Bruins about to make their own push for a veteran D-man? It sounds like they’re trying to pry Dan Hamhuis from Vancouver, which would make some sense. Former Bruins front office man Jim Benning is the Canucks’ general manager, so he obviously has a familiarity with most of Boston’s assets.
BOS making a big push for Dan Hamhuis.
— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) February 29, 2016
1:37 p.m.:Â As we approach the one-hour warning, things are starting to get weird. The Colorado Avalanche are making a push, as they’ve reportedly acquired defenseman Eric Gelinas from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a third-round pick.
https://twitter.com/FriedgeHNIC/status/704374471029878784
1:33 p.m.:Â Sounds like the Dallas Stars are getting close to landing at least one of their defensive targets. They’re close on acquiring Kris Russell, per Pierre Le Brun.
Believe the Dallas Stars are close on Kris Russell
— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) February 29, 2016
1:20 p.m.:Â Here are the specifics on that Colorado-Arizona trade.
To COL: Mikkel Boedker
To COL: Alex Tanguay, Conner Bleackley, Kyle Wood— David Pagnotta (@TheFourthPeriod) February 29, 2016
1:12 p.m.: Here we go? The trade winds might be about to pick up, as the Colorado Avalanche just acquired Mikkel Boedker from the Arizona Coyotes, per multiple reports. ESPN.com’s Craig Custance had it first, we believe.
Boedker deal is done. Colorado.
— Craig Custance (@CraigCustance) February 29, 2016
12:20 p.m.:Â The Dallas Stars could use some defensive help if they’re going to make a big playoff push, and they’re reportedly in the mix.
Stars remain dialed in on Russell and Hamhuis. Highly unlikely, but is it possible to land both? Too early to rule anything out.
— Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) February 29, 2016
12:05 p.m.:Â Here’s what came of waiver claims for Monday.
Devils claim Warsofsky off waivers. Oilers claim Cracknell, Pardy. Habs claim Brown. Everyone else clears.
— David Pagnotta (@TheFourthPeriod) February 29, 2016
11:55 a.m.:Â Again, teams always seem to be looking for veteran defensemen at the deadline, and Calgary Flames blueliner Kris Russell certainly fits that criteria. Could he land in Boston? It’s early, but ESPN.com’s Joe McDonald reported there have been discussions between the two teams.
According to a league source, Bruins and Flames discussing D-man Kris Russell but source added it's too soon to say if a deal gets done.
— Joe McDonald (@JoeyMacHockey) February 29, 2016
11:35 a.m.:Â Probably worth mentioning this from a little early, but the Bruins took the ice for an 11 a.m. practice, and Loui Eriksson indeed was on the ice. As was the recently called-up Tyler Randell.
Loui Eriksson is on the ice at Bruins practice. Zac Rinaldo the only player who's not.
— Zack Cox (@zm_cox) February 29, 2016
Also interesting to note that Max Talbot actually left the ice before practice began.
Max Talbot just left the ice right before the start of practice.
— Zack Cox (@zm_cox) February 29, 2016
11:29 a.m.:Â Not a huge surprise given all the reports from over the weekend, but it doesn’t sound like the Bruins and Loui Eriksson are closing in on a deal.
Nothing brewing on an extension for Loui Eriksson. Tough decision looming for #bruins in the next couple hours.
— Chris Johnston (@reporterchris) February 29, 2016
11:23 a.m.:Â Then again, maybe Kerby Rychel is just being demoted.
Rychel has not been traded, at least not yet. Been told to await further instructions. Either trade or AHL assignment to get on p-off roster
— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) February 29, 2016
11:20 a.m.:Â From the “Things that make you go hmmm department,” here’s something to keep an eye on with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
#CBJ rookie F Kerby Rychel was walking out of Madison Square Garden as I walked in. This is not an optional skate today.
— Aaron Portzline (@Aportzline) February 29, 2016
Rychel has wanted out of Columbus. Stay tuned. https://t.co/jn1Xfs4LOE
— Chris Johnston (@reporterchris) February 29, 2016
11:18 a.m.:Â With less than fours hours to go before the deadline, don’t forget about Jonathan Drouin.
TB values Drouin very highly and many teams do. Traction being made. Based on those I'm talking to, I'd be surprised if he's not moved
— David Pagnotta (@TheFourthPeriod) February 29, 2016
11:11 a.m.:Â More on the Loui Eriksson asking price, this time from ESPN.com’s Joe McDonald.
“A league source tells me the Bruins are shopping Loui Eriksson hard. Asking price seems to be A-prospect defenseman and a second,” McDonald reported.
11:08 a.m.:Â Adding to the thought that the Bruins could be busy, here’s a tidbit on forward Alexander Khokhlachev.
Alexander Khokhlachev's agent says his client could be traded today #Bruins
— Igor Eronko (@IgorEronko) February 29, 2016
10:34 a.m.:Â Don Sweeney on Sunday said the Bruins are open to keeping Loui Eriksson, even if they don’t sign him to an extension. The latest from TSN’s Darren Dreger would seem to support that notion.
Additional offers on Eriksson expected. However, existing interest has to improve for Boston to consider moving key forward. #TradeCentre
— Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) February 29, 2016
Then again, if you wanted to drive up the price for a player in a trade, you’d certainly want potential suitors to think you were strongly considering and perhaps even favoring keeping a player — in order to drive up the price. We shall see.
10:27 a.m.:Â The Minnesota Wild are another team that could be busy Monday.
I think if Minnesota can't do a deal for bigger names like Boedker or Drouin they might circle back to Buffalo on McGinn if he's still there
— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) February 29, 2016
10:24 a.m.:Â The Bruins have made their first official move of the day — they’ve called up Tyler Randell from Providence.
Bruins recall forward Tyler Randell from Providence Bruins. Read release: https://t.co/eaUE2G56YV ^BB
— Boston Bruins (@NHLBruins) February 29, 2016
9:35 a.m.: The consensus among most NHL insiders and analysts you read or listen to is that Monday could be a busy day for the Boston Bruins. According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, there’s already chatter about Bruins prospect Seth Griffith. You have to imagine Griffith is just one of a few younger players who might be in play if the B’s look to do something big Monday.
https://twitter.com/FriedgeHNIC/status/704313641143767040
https://twitter.com/FriedgeHNIC/status/704314767012450304
9:30 a.m.:Â We have our first (reported) trade of the day. ESPN’s Craig Custance just reported that Pittsburgh is sending forward Sergei Plotnikov to Phoenix. It’s unclear, at this point, what the Penguins are getting in return.
Coyotes have made a deal for Plotnikov.
— Craig Custance (@CraigCustance) February 29, 2016
The 25-year-old has just two assists in 32 games this season and hasn’t played since Jan. 6.
9:13 a.m.:Â Darren Dreger on TSN’s trade deadline telecast just said the Boston Bruins and Loui Eriksson’s camp had no talks about a new contract Sunday, which makes you think an extension is unlikely. So, what will the Bruins do with the veteran winger? Dreger added that a number of Western Conference teams have expressed interest in the player.
The reported price, as mentioned in our previous update, is high.
9:10 a.m.:Â The reported asking price for Loui Eriksson, as we sit here early in the day, is pretty high, per TSN’s Darren Dreger. As even he points out, of course, that price could come down before the end of the day.
Western conference team says the ask from Boston for Eriksson is a top player and prospect. Team is balking at the price…for now.
— Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) February 29, 2016
9 a.m.:Â Teams always are looking for veteran defensemen at the deadline, which means there’s going to be interest in a player like Dan Hamhuis. The Vancouver Canucks are in the midst of a rebuild, and there’s reason to believe he’ll be traded before 3 p.m. The Ottawa Sun’s Bruce Garrioch sees the Dallas Stars as the current favorite to land the 33-year-old.
Dallas is frontrunner but Boston, Tampa and Washington have all inquired on Dan Hamhuis. #TradeCentre
— Bruce Garrioch (@SunGarrioch) February 29, 2016
8:28 a.m.: The Montreal Canadiens, in the midst of a treacherous season, very well could be entering this deadline as sellers.
TSN’s Bob McKenzie mentioned forward Devante Smith-Pelly as someone who could have a new home once Monday comes to an end (with a hat tip to Habs Eyes On The Prize).
McKenzie: "I think Devante Smith Pelly is a name that could move today."
— Platinum Seat Ghosts (@3rdPeriodSuits) February 29, 2016
Perhaps even more interesting, is the fact that Alexander Galchenyuk could be in play. It probably would take a lot to pry the No. 3 pick of the 2012 draft out of Montreal, but teams are calling, according to Pierre Le Brun.
FWIW, I've heard of a few teams calling Montreal on Galchenyuk… not convinced he's available, but Habs listening on different guys…
— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) February 29, 2016
8 a.m.: One of the biggest days of the hockey year is upon us.
It’s NHL trade deadline day, and if past years are any indication, it could be a doozy. The (unofficial) national holiday in Canada will be celebrated across North America as fans will have a close eye on all the news and rumors leading up until the 3 p.m. ET deadline.
One of the biggest names on the market, Eric Staal, was dealt ahead of the deadline, as Carolina finally sent its captain to the New York Rangers. The biggest name believed to be still on the market would be Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson. The pending free agent played in Boston’s Sunday night loss to Tampa Bay, but Bruins general manager Don Sweeney didn’t hide from the fact that the team is open to trading Eriksson. However, Sweeney also said the team would be open to keeping Eriksson even if the sides can’t reach a contract extension before the deadline.
Another player to keep an eye on Monday? Tampa Bay’s Jonathan Drouin. The third overall pick in the 2013 draft had a falling-out with the Lightning and has been the subject of trade rumors for weeks. Maybe Monday is the day that finally gets done.
As was also the case Sunday, NESN.com will be all over the day’s latest news right here in the live blog.
