Calgary Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman was suspended 20 games for cross-checking NHL linesman Don Henderson from behind in a game against the Nashville Predators on Jan. 27.
An arbitrator reduced the ban to 10 games Friday.

Wideman served 19 of the 20 games before the arbitrator’s decision was made, but he will get reimbursed for the extra nine games.
The veteran blueliner returned to the ice Friday in the Flames’ loss to the Arizona Coyotes. Henderson, however, won’t be as fortunate.
In a statement released by the NHL Officials Association, it was revealed Henderson won’t be returning to game action this season.
