David Price Bats Ninth In Red Sox Lineup, Looks To Rebound Vs. Braves

On paper, David Price has an undefeated record as a member of the Boston Red Sox. In reality, he’s been a bit more mediocre.

Boston’s prized offseason acquisition is 2-0 this season, though the team has gone just 2-2 in games he’s pitched. Most recently, Price got knocked around for eight earned runs in just 3 2/3 innings pitched against the Tampa Bay Rays, bloating his ERA to an ugly 7.06 through four starts.

However, he gets to pitch in the National League on Tuesday against the lowly Atlanta Braves, who own baseball’s fourth-worst batting average (.227) and have scored the fewest runs (61) in the game.

Only four players are batting .250 or better in their careers against Price: Daniel Castro (1 for 4, .250), Erick Aybar (8 for 30, .267), Nick Markakis (14 for 51, .275) and Jeff Francoeur (3 for 6, .500).

The downfall to NL games, of course, is that Price has to bat. In 39 career plate appearances, Price has two hits (0.054 average) and two walks.

In other news, Hanley Ramirez returns to first base for the Red Sox, which moves Travis Shaw back over to third.

Here are the lineups for both teams.
