The Philadelphia Eagles’ desire to nab one of the the 2016 NFL Draft’s top two quarterbacks might have cost them their current signal-caller.
Sam Bradford has demanded to be traded after the Eagles acquired the second overall pick in this week’s draft in a blockbuster deal with the Cleveland Browns, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday morning.

In exchange for the No. 2 pick and a fourth-round pick in 2017, the Browns received the Eagles’ first- (No. 8), third- (No. 77) and fourth-round (No. 100) selections in this year’s draft, as well as a first-rounder next year and a second-rounder in 2018. Philadelphia is expected to use to second pick to draft either Cal quarterback Jared Goff or North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz.
Bradford, meanwhile, enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career in 2015, following his trade to the Eagles from the St. Louis Rams last March. The 28-year-old appeared in 14 games for Philly, completing a career-best 65.0 percent of his passes for 3,725 yards with 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He signed a two-year, $35 million contract extension with the Eagles last month.
Eagles executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman said shortly after the trade was announced the team would not move Bradford.
