Yet another UFC pay-per-view card reportedly will have to be adjusted due to an injury.
Former middleweight champion Cris Weidman pulled out of his UFC 199 rematch with current title holder Luke Rockhold after suffering an undisclosed injury, sources told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto on Tuesday. UFC hasn’t made an official announcement about the injury or Rockhold’s new opponent in the UFC 199 main event.
Weidman was the top fighter in the 185-pound middleweight division until Rockhold handed him his first career loss with a fourth-round TKO at 194.
As for a potential new opponent, both ESPN and Bleacher Report mentioned Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, who is coming off a dominant victory at UFC 198.
UFC 199, which also features bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz against Urijah Faber, is scheduled for June 4 in Los Angeles.
