OK, so Roman Reigns still is Roman Reigns, but he put on one heck of a show alongside A.J. Styles in the WWE Payback main event Sunday night.
The WWE world heavyweight title match appeared to be a dud early on, as Styles originally beat Reigns via a countout. Unfortunately for the challenger, the title holder can’t lose the championship via countout in a regular match, so Reigns still kept the hardware.
10 COUNT by the referee!! @AJStylesOrg wins it by Countout, but @WWERomanReigns retains the #WWETitle. #WWEPayback pic.twitter.com/td6QgMm2eB

But Shane McMahon, son of WWE chairman Vince McMahon, surprised everyone when he came out and ordered the match to be restarted.

But the match ended yet again in a controversial finish when Reigns lost via disqualification after this low blow on Styles.

The challenger also can’t win the title via disqualification, but Stephanie McMahon ordered the match to be restarted yet again.

Reigns eventually retained the title fair and square when he nailed Styles with a spear.

The pay-per-view then ended with the McMahons setting up a rematch at Extreme Rules between Reigns and Styles.
While that clearly was the match of the night, it wasn’t the only newsworthy event at WWE Payback.
Before the McMahons got involved in the main event, Vince decided whether Stephanie or Shane would get control of “Monday Night RAW.”
