Things almost always get out of hand when fans celebrate a sports championship in their city, but many were expecting the worst for Cleveland, whose Cavaliers won the city’s first title in 52 years Sunday night.
Clevelanders didn’t burn their city to the ground after the Cavs beat the Golden State Warriors 93-89 in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, but there was a rumor going around Twitter that, well, firefighters wouldn’t have been able to put it out if they did.
Sounds like Cleveland fans stole a fire truck, according to the scanner.

Cleveland police almost immediately chimed in that the truck hadn’t been stolen, but that was more of a technicality, as fans definitely made sure the firetruck wasn’t going anywhere.

Police ending up removing the fans from the top of the truck without incident, and Cleveland.com’s Mark Naymik reported the fans were “largely peaceful” through the chaos. Still, we definitely don’t recommend dancing on emergency vehicles.
