The city of Cleveland is partying like it’s 1964.
LeBron James and the Cavaliers delivered Cleveland its first major sports championship in 52 years by defeating the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, and they held their championship parade in The Sixth City on Wednesday.
Given the circumstances, many expected Clevelanders to come out in droves for the once-in-a-lifetime celebration. But nobody could have predicted the craziness that unfolded, as an estimated 1.3 million people jammed the streets of Cleveland (The city’s population is under 400,000.).
Below are the most incredible scenes from Wednesday’s parade, which include fans literally risking their lives to catch a glimpse of the action and aerial shots giving us a sense of the massive amount of people who showed up to witness history.

It was a pretty special day for Cleveland, but it wouldn’t be complete without at least someone making fun of the place.
