Kerri Walsh Jennings came up short in her quest for a fourth straight gold, but she won’t leave the 2016 Rio Olympics without a medal.
Walsh JenningsĀ and April Ross earned a three-set victory over Brazil’sĀ Larissa Franca Maestrini and Talita on Wednesday in the the bronze medal match at Copacabana Beach. Walsh Jennings and Ross lost the first set 21-17, but they won the last two 21-17 and 15-9 to pick up the win.
Tuesday’s shocking semifinal defeat was the first loss for Walsh Jennings in her Olympic career, but that was a distant memory as the two United States beach volleyball athletes celebrated their big win.
