Arnold Palmer’s death serves a stark reminder that timing remains critically important to “The Simpsons'” brand of comedy.
The legendary golfer was the subject of a joke on Sunday’s episode of “The Simpsons” — the premiere of its 28th season. The Palmer reference comes as Homer Simpson explains to his wife, Marge, his plans for a prank on one of his friends.
There was an Arnold Palmer reference tonight on The Simpsons. So weird. pic.twitter.com/4obYfm2B5T

Producers created the episode months ago, and the fact this one aired just hours after Palmer’s death was a coincidence.
These things can happen in show business. We suspect Palmer would want people to cool off with one of his signature drinks rather than upset themselves.
