Josh Norman is putting away his bow and arrow in favor of some suds.
The Redskins cornerback, who was penalized and fined for pretending to shoot a bow and arrow in Washington’s Week 4 win over the Cleveland Browns, revealed Thursday that he’s planning to unveil a new beer-themed celebration this Sunday against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field.
“Since they sell beer on TV while kids are watching it, I’m thinking I might open a keg on the field, and I’m going to drink it on the field,” Norman told USA TODAY Sports. “And I don’t see that being on the rule book.”
Norman is talking about a pretend keg, of course, as he apparently demonstrated to USA TODAY a celebration in which he opens an invisible keg, pumps it and then lifts it over his head. The whole charade probably won’t sit well with the NFL, though. The league has been cracking down on celebrations this season, with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reasoning this week that players are role models.
“If they don’t, I’ll explain it afterwards,” Norman told Wilder of whether fans will understand his keg celebration. “I was kind of like, if they’re doing that, then why can’t my celebration be legal? I mean, you’re selling ads on TV, so why can’t my celebration be legal? It’s a catch-22, man. These guys are serious.”
Norman clearly has a party planned for Week 7. Fortunately, we’re all on the guest list.
