Lewis Hamilton will be in Austin, Texas this weekend for the Formula One U.S. Grand Prix, but first, the three-time world champion made a pit stop in California.
F1 is steadily growing in popularity stateside, so the past few years Hamilton — who’s becoming increasingly well-known in the U.S. — has made appearances on major talk shows such as”Today” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to promote the race. And this year is no different.
The Mercedes-AMG Petronas driver appeared on “The Ellen Degeneres Show” on Wednesday to explain some of the complexities of F1, and talk about his life away from the circuit.
Because a lot of people who aren’t motorsport fans think racing is no more demanding than a Sunday afternoon cruise, it’s interesting to listen to the audience’s reaction when Hamilton discussed the physicality of F1.

In hindsight, explaining that some racing drivers urinate inside the cockpit probably isn’t the best way to make a fan out of somebody, but at least it provided viewers with some laughs.
