Ezekiel Elliott’s Salvation Army Bucket Hop Won’t Come With Fine From NFL
It appears as if Ezekiel Elliott’s jump into a comically large donation bucket won’t cost him a donation to the NFL.
The Dallas Cowboys running back won’t be fined for jumping into an oversized Salvation Army kettle during the Cowboys’ eventual Sunday night win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to a tweet from NFL PR man Brian McCarthy.
Elliott’s plunge came after his 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter Sunday night. The Rookie of the Year candidate slashed through the line before dashing through the end zone and hopping into a bucket stationed in front of the stands at AT&T Stadium.
Officials flagged Elliott for excessive celebration, but that’s apparently as far as the NFL will go.
As ESPN’s Darren Rovell (who had his own Salvation Army-related run-in Sunday night) pointed out, a fine would have cost Elliott just north of $12,000.
Perhaps he could use that “saved” money and make an actual donation to the Salvation Army instead.
