Today is a good time to remind everyone why we love sports.
The Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals played a spring training game Tuesday. While the game was nothing more than a meaningless exhibition, Red Sox manager Alex Cora made sure that Cardinals manager Mike Matheny never will forget it.
Matheny’s son, Tate, is a Red Sox minor leaguer who isn’t in big league camp, but Cora had him bring out the lineup card to his father before the game at JetBlue Park. Tate’s son, Ryker, also was in attendance, meaning there were three generations of Mathenys at the game, per Joe Trezza of MLB.com.

Trezza also noted that Cora plans to hit Matheny leadoff Friday when the two teams play again.
Matheny was very appreciative of Cora’s gesture after the game.
