Could This Radical Idea Actually Solve MLB’s Mound Visit Problems?

Major League Baseball might have to get creative if it wants to solve pace-of-play issues.

The league hopes its decision to limit mound visits is an important first step toward making baseball more easily digestible for younger viewers. And that ultimately might prove true, but in the meantime, all the rule has done is anger just about every catcher in the game.

Surely there must be a way to make everyone happy, right?

Your guess is as good as ours, but ESPN’s Buster Olney tweeted a concept Sunday that, if nothing else, is pretty fascinating.

Our only is question is why don’t catchers get a mic? Sure, batters could eavesdrop on important conversations, but there must be a way for catchers to communicate as well.

Either way, this is a pretty cool idea.

And it’s definitely not the most radical change that’s been floated around recently. That honor absolutely goes to the wild concept Rich Eisen introduced Tuesday.
