Tyler Goodman is bringing his football talents to Massachusetts.

The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School quarterback announced Tuesday on Twitter he’s committing to attend and play for Nicols College in Dudley, Mass. Goodman survived the mass shooting, in which 17 students and staff were killed earlier this month at the school. He was on lockdown in the MS Douglas football office during the shooting along with four other athletes and Nichols assistant dean for enrollment Paul Brower.

“It’s been a hard week,” Goodman wrote. “I’ve lost friends & I’ve lost family. But losing them gave me the drive to keep fighting cause they’ve fought hard enough for me. This one’s for all 17 people I lost from my home.”

Nichols College, a Division III school, didn’t confirm Goodman’s commitment due to NCAA rules, but MS Douglas’ football team congratulated him on Twitter.

Goodman will try to lead the Nichols Bisons to Commonwealth Coast Conference success while healing from the effects of one of the most horrific events imaginable.
