These services reportedly would prepare high school prospects for all aspects of the NBA, on and off the court. The goal would be to provide an alternate path for prospects to enter the NBA Draft other than the NCAA.
“We are looking at changing the relationship we have with players before they reach the NBA,” one high-ranking league official told Windhorst. “This is a complex challenge, and there’s still a lot of discussion about how it’s going to happen, but we all see the need to step in.”
Although Silver has yet to make any definitive plans, Windhorst believes a plan could develop within the next few months, following the Commission on College Basketball’s annual report.
