Patrice Bergeron Injury: Bruce Cassidy Provides Update On Bruins Star

Boston Bruins fans have to wait a little longer before seeing Patrice Bergeron back on the ice.

The star center has been out since late February with a fractured foot, an injury Bergeron suffered while blocking a shot in a loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. And while the general feeling has been that Bergeron will be ready in time for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy isn’t expecting the 32-year-old back this week.

Here’s what Cassidy had to say about Bergeron ahead of the Bruins’ game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday:

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

Cassidy also provided an update on winger Brad Marchand, who missed Sunday’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks with an upper-body injury.

Obviously, the Bruins can ill-afford to have two of their top offensive players unavailable for the start of the playoffs, so they’ll likely play things as safe as possible.

The B’s also have been without the services of rookie defenseman Charlie McAvoy, who remains out with an MCL sprain.
