The Oakland Athletics will host the Boston Red Sox for a three-game series in two weeks, but the A’s are opting for a pretty bizarre approach to promote the weekend set.
Instead of targeting the Red Sox, the Athletics, for whatever reason, appear to be fixated on another New England-based team: the Patriots. Oakland kicked off its promotional campaign with a tired Deflategate joke and then doubled down on its strategy with another jab at the Pats on Saturday.

The latest tweet has a bit more relevance, as the hometown Raiders were the victims of the infamous tuck rule play. But still, the American League West club’s social media tactics continue to be downright puzzling.
