Matt Patricia Admits He’s Still Bothered By Patriots’ Super Bowl LII Loss

Matt Patricia, like so many New Englanders, still isn’t over it.

The former New England Patriots defensive coordinator recently joined Adam Schefter’s podcast to discuss a variety of topics. Unsurprisingly, the Patriots’ ill-fated turn in Super Bowl LII against the Philadelphia Eagles was a popular talking point.

And although Patricia now is the head coach for the Detroit Lions, it turns out he still can’t shake his final game with his former team.

“The game still really bothers me. It always will,” Patricia said. “The (2011 Super Bowl) game still bothers me. The (2007) game still bothers me. Those three that you don’t finish off the right way, they hurt forever.”

With Patricia now running things in Detroit, the Patriots reportedly will turn to Brian Flores to call the plays on defense. The former linebackers coach won’t be given the title of defensive coordinator, though.
