Rick Nash Injury: Bruins Winger Battling Concussion, Could Play Vs. Panthers

At long last, Boston Bruins fans know what’s going on with Rick Nash.

The star winger has missed the last 10 games with what’s been described as an upper-body injury. But ahead of the Bruins’ game against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, Nash revealed the true nature of his ailment.

Although Nash’s concussion clearly is serious, he recently resumed skating while the team was on the road.

And after the Bruins’ morning skate Saturday, head coach Bruce Cassidy revealed the 33-year-old could play Sunday in Boston’s regular-season finale against the Florida Panthers.

After a long, injury-riddled finish to the regular season, it appears the Bruins finally are getting close to full strength.

Still, Boston will have to adjust to life without defenseman Brandon Carlo, who will miss with the entirety of the Stanley Cup playoffs after fracturing his ankle. Furthermore, one must wonder whether some of the team’s banged-up stars (Nash, Charlie McAvoy, Zdeno Chara) have had enough time to shake off the rust they accumulated during their times off.
