Jeremy Swayman made 26 saves on 32 Sabres shots he faced in the brutal 7-2 Boston Bruins loss to Buffalo on Tuesday night.
Swayman took responsibility for the latest Boston loss despite the Black and Gold being shorthanded on the blue line. Charlie McAvoy, Hampus Lindholm and Brando Carlo were all out of the lineup against Buffalo.
“I think not giving my team a chance to win. I take pride in that every night and I could have had a couple more saves that would have kept the game closer, and that’s something that I need to work on, and I will,” Swayman told reporters in KeyBank Center. “Everyone in this room knows that and I know that everyone in this room is going to do the same for their game. That’s what we have that not a lot of teams don’t, and we can take pride in that.”
Boston fell to 9-14-3 away from TD Garden, losing its second straight game on the road. Swayman said the game management got away from them.
“We just got to stick to our details and just have an unwavering belief,” Swayman said. “Which we do have in this locker room, and it just got away from us tonight. We learned a lot. We’re going to move forward.

“I don’t know the actual numbers, so I can’t give you the analytics on that, but I just know that we take it game by game no matter where we are — home or away. We want to take pride in our game, and we don’t like losing, and we want to, if we do lose one, lose the right way. Tonight, we didn’t lose the right way.”
The Bruins have three straight home games, beginning with the league-leading Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night. Puck drop from TD Garden at 7 p.m. ET on NESN, following an hour of pregame coverage.
