One team dominated the MLB offseason and it was the Los Angeles Dodgers once again.

The Dodgers made a series of high-profile moves on the free agent market as they signed frontline starting pitchers Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki along with lockdown reliever Tanner Scott. If that wasn’t enough, they re-signed Teoscar Hernández and Blake Treinen and brought in Hyeseong Kim and Michael Conforto. There were reports that the Dodgers were close to adding Kirby Yates to their bullpen, too.

The Dodgers have an embarrassment of riches and they might add another star infielder to the mix before the offseason ends — much to the dismay of fans outside of Los Angeles — if this prediction for ESPN’s MLB analyst David Schoenfield comes true.

“Why should the Dodgers stop now? If (Alex) Bregman can’t find the big deal he wants, the Dodgers might be a surprise fit,” Schoenfield wrote. “Max Muncy is a free agent after 2025 and prone to strikeouts. Hyeseong Kim’s bat projects as more of a utility infielder than a starting second baseman. Bregman can shift between second and third in 2025 and then replace Muncy in 2026. Too much money even for the Dodgers? Not really. Between Muncy, Chris Taylor, Michael Conforto and Miguel Rojas, the Dodgers have $49.5 million coming off the books after this season (and the pitching staff is set for years).”

Bregman going to the Dodgers and joining a vaunted lineup, which already features Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman, is a scary thought.

The Dodgers have yet to be linked to Bregman this offseason as the Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros have all been viewed as likely landing spots for the two-time All-Star. The latest report regarding Boston’s stance on Bregman is that the Red Sox are unwilling to give the veteran third baseman a contract longer than four years.

Bregman could always go back to Houston as the Astros are still open to reuniting while he could possibly join up with his former manager in A.J. Hinch with the Tigers.

But if Bregman doesn’t like any of those options, he very well could take his talents to the Dodgers and hear the whole baseball world groan about it.
