Former Boston Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen reportedly is heading back to the West Coast, just not with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

According to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman and Joel Sherman on Tuesday, Jansen agreed to a one-year, $10 million with the Los Angeles Angels. The reported agreement gave LA one of the game’s best closers and allowed the 37-year-old to return to the West Coast for the first time since 2021.

Jansen spent two seasons with the Red Sox. He earned 56 saves and recorded a 3.44 ERA with 114 strikeouts during his time at Fenway Park. The veteran reliever earned his fourth All-Star appearance in his first year with Boston but his final year was mired with injuries. The Liam Hendriks signing allowed the Red Sox to move on and prompted Jansen to enter free agency.

The reported Jansen agreement was part of multiple aggressive moves the Angels made in the offseason as they look to compete in the American League West.
