BOSTON — The Boston Bruins were not happy with their start in Saturday’s overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks.

The Black and Gold certainly got off to a much better start in their Original Six matchup with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday, but the finish was less than ideal.

Mitch Marner once again came through on TD Garden ice as he scored the game-winner with 52 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Leafs past the Bruins, 5-4. The loss will only hurt the Bruins’ playoff chances and extended Boston’s losing streak to four games as it fell to 27-24-8 on the season.

The Maple Leafs battled back from a 3-0 deficit to make it a game with goals from Morgan Reilly, Marner and Nick Robertson before David Pastrnak put the Bruins ahead, 4-3, midway through the third period. Unfortunately for Boston, a familiar trend reared its head, and the Maple Leafs leveled the score to force overtime with 48 seconds remaining in regulation.

Pastrnak gave the Bruins an early 1-0 lead just 29 seconds into the game with his 29th goal of the season. Pastrnak extended his point streak to 15 games, tallying 13 goals and 17 assists for 29 points in that span.

The Bruins then extended their lead to 3-0 on power-play goals from Brad Marchand and Morgan Geekie. It is the 85th time Pastrnak and Marchand each scored a goal in the same game. The Bruins are 73-6-5 in the previous 84 games.

Boston will look to get back in the win column when they host the New York Islanders at TD Garden on Thursday night.
