If the Cincinnati Bengals place their franchise tag on Tee Higgins and fail to come to terms on a long-term agreement, the star wide receiver would have every right to be frustrated.
It seems Higgins’ mother might’ve got a head start on her son.
A social media account that goes by the user name “TEEHIGGINSMOM #5” caught the attention of internet users Monday night. The X account, which resembles that of a proud mom elsewhere on the timeline, posted the phrase “Selfish bastards.”

It surfaced shortly after it was reported the Bengals intend to use their franchise tag on Higgins with plans to come to a long-term deal. Higgins played the 2024 season on the one-year contract, and while he might receive the tag before March 4 he’s not expected to play on it in 2025.
The two-word tweet racked up nearly a half million views less than 48 hours later.

Is there a chance the post has nothing to do with the Bengals? Sure. “TEEHIGGINSMOM #5” responded to a social media user expressing her post was not about the organization. But given the timing, it’s no surprise it caught the attention of football fans in Cincinnati and beyond.
