Charlie McAvoy Reacts To Bruins’ Stunning Deadline Trades Via Instagram

Grab some tissues, B's fans

Charlie McAvoy clearly felt some kind of way Friday after the Boston Bruins traded away several key players before the NHL trade deadline.

Understandably so.

The Bruins reportedly traded Brad Marchand, Charlie Coyle and Brandon Carlo to the Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche and Toronto Maple Leafs, respectively. McAvoy took to Instagram after the onslaught of news and posted a series of game photos to his IG Story.

The first showed McAvoy hugging another former teammate, Trent Frederic, who the Bruins traded earlier this week to the Edmonton Oilers.

The second: An embrace between McAvoy and Coyle.

The third: A celebration pic featuring McAvoy, Marchand and Carlo.

But it’s the fourth photo in McAvoy’s Instagram sequence that’ll likely tug most at Bruins fans’ heartstrings. It shows McAvoy hugging Marchand after a goal, along with two broken heart emojis.

We all know it’s a business. And the Bruins were at the heart of trade rumors in recent weeks, making a full-blown roster revamp a legitimate possibility. One even could argue a teardown made total sense given Boston’s place in the standings.

That said, it still hits different when the moves actually start coming down. Strong bonds are formed in the dressing room, as McAvoy clearly can attest, and that can make for an emotional period, both for the players traded away and those who lost their teammates.
