The Boston Bruins certainly made a splash before the 3 p.m. ET NHL trade deadline.
The news dropped that the historic franchise reportedly traded Charlie Coyle, Brad Marchand and Brandon Carlo, with the captain and defender going to division rivals.
Carlo joined the TSN broadcast after finding out he was dealt to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
“Yeah, definitely a shocker when I heard it was Toronto,” Carlo said. “But then it’s pretty interesting that you can kind of look at the group they have there.
“… What an opportunity for me to go in there and try and help this group win. It should be a lot of fun.”

The Bruins and Maple Leafs have faced each other 17 times in the postseason, with Boston winning the last seven head-to-head matchups between the two Original Six franchises.
Boston has struggled this season and is at risk of missing the playoffs for the first time since the 2015-16 campaign. Carlo will have to put the Black and Gold behind him and try to help Toronto win its first Stanley Cup since 1967.
“I’m not sure, definitely above my pay grade, but for our (Bruins) group in general, a lot of bad bounces for sure, and last night was no different,” Carlo added. “Hopefully, I can go forward and grow my game to be the best Maple Leaf I can be.”
Carlo has two years left on his contract with an annual cap hit of $4.1 million. He had spent all nine of his NHL seasons with the Bruins. He has one goal and eight assists in 63 games this season. The 28-year-old defenseman has 109 points across 617 games donning the Spoked-B.
