The Brad Marchand news rocked the region
The Boston Bruins shocked the region Friday when they reportedly dealt captain Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers at the NHL Trade Deadline.
New England’s had a few jaw-dropping trades over the years, including a few from the Boston Red Sox. NESN’s Tom Caron recalled a few of them on X after Friday’s NHL trade deadline. He referenced the 2004 trade of Nomar Garciaparra to the Chicago Cubs, the 2008 trade of Manny Ramirez to the Los Angeles Dodgers and another money-shedding blockbuster with the Dodgers in 2012 that sent away Josh Beckett, Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford and Nick Punto.
Caron asked his followers if any other Red Sox deals came to mind based off the Bruins deal that would add Marchand to the team that eliminated Boston in each of the last two postseasons. Marchand’s new club visits TD Garden against the Bruins Tuesday night.
