Abdul Carter is regarded by many draft analysts as the top player in the 2025 draft class, and the Patriots have an outside shot at him.
The Tennessee Titans are expected to draft Cam Ward at No. 1. It’s expected Carter will go No. 2 to the Cleveland Browns, but stranger things have happened in the NFL draft.
That might be what the Penn State product is buying into, as Carter has top 30 visits planned with every team picking in the top four, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer on Friday. That includes the Patriots, and Breer added that only those four teams are on Carter’s list of planned visits.
It goes to show the confidence he and his team have that he’ll go in the top four, and even though he’s expected to be a top-two pick, the 21-year-old is doing his due diligence by visiting the New York Giants and Patriots.
New England obviously would love the opportunity to draft Carter. The pass rusher would be a perfect fit in the scheme Mike Vrabel and defensive coordinator Terrell Williams are trying to build. Also, the Patriots are bereft of blue-chip talent, and Carter would be a great addition alongside Milton Williams.

Again, intel about the 2025 NFL Draft indicated that Carter is unlikely to drop to No. 4, but it should still be a positive sign that he included them in his exclusive list.
