ORIGINAL STORY: The Bruins reportedly stayed busy before Friday’s NHL trade deadline.
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman and The Athletic’s Chris Johnston, Boston traded defenseman Brandon Carlo to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The trades came on the same day the Bruins reportedly traded Charlie Coyle to the Colorado Avalanche and Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers.
Friedman and Johnston reported that forward Fraser Minten was part of the package going to Boston. Toronto selected Minten in the second round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft and was ranked as the Maple Leafs’ second-best prospect by Mike Zeisberger of NHL.com.

The Athletic’s James Mirtle reported Toronto’s first-round pick was involved in what is/are “complicated deal(s).” Daily Face-Off’s Frank Seravalli had some of those details, with the Maple Leafs sending defenseman Conor Timmins and forward Connor Dewar to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Seravalli added that retention was part of the deal, too.
Friday’s reported trade marked the first deal between the sides since the 2010-11 season. The Bruins acquired defenseman Tomas Kaberle in exchange for forward Joe Colborne, a 2011 first-round pick that became Rickard Rakell and a conditional 2012 second-round pick.
