The unofficial start to NFL free agency officially is here.
The league’s legal tampering window opened Monday, and it was a busy day for the New England Patriots and others. The Patriots agreed to terms with seven players and traded another one. Contracts, however, are not finalized until the 2025 league year begins Wednesday.
New England entered the legal tampering period with more cap space than any team, and arguably more holes than anyone. They addressed a fair share of those Monday and likely will try to do add to it Tuesday.

Tuesday, March 11
5:35 p.m. ET: The Cardinals have a new backup for Kyler Murray and it’s none other than former Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Brissett plans to sign with the Cardinals. It will be Brissett’s sixth NFL team.

3:30 p.m. ET: With the Patriots interested in interior offensive line market, a few options still available include Teven Jenkins, Mekhi Becton and Dillon Radunz, who previously spent time in Tennessee with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel.
3:15 p.m. ET: All is quiet on the Patriots’ front.
9:50 a.m. ET: The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with guard Will Fries, per multiple reports. According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Patriots were involved in the action on Fries.
9:15 a.m. ET: While the Patriots addressed a handful of their needs on Day 1 of the legal tampering period, they didn’t fill their biggest void: left tackle. Cam Robinson remains on the board for New England after Ronnie Stanley (Ravens) and Dan Moore (Titans) signed and Laremy Tunsil (Commanders) was traded.

Monday, March 10
11:59 p.m. ET: The Patriots reportedly agreed to terms with the following players on the first day of the legal tampering period: DT Milton Williams, CB Carlton Davis, LB Robert Spillane, RT Morgan Moses, QB Josh Dobbs, WR Mack Hollins and DT Khyiris Tonga.

9:05 p.m. ET: NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported the Patriots have had “discussions on trading Joe Milton III.” Schultz noted the Patriots would look to find the “right situation” for the young quarterback.

7:10 p.m. ET: The Patriots got Drake Maye a pass-catching option in free agency. New England agreed to a two-year deal worth $8.4 million with former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Mack Hollins, according to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo. Garafolo noted Hollins’ deal can max out at $10.4 million.
5:45 p.m. ET: NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero reported details on Joshua Dobbs’ contract with the Patriots. Dobbs’ two-year deal is worth $8 million with $3.8 million fully guaranteed.
5:40 p.m. ET: The Patriots reportedly signing Carlton Davis presumably took them out of the running for Charvarius Ward. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Ward reached an agreement with the Indianapolis Colts on a three-year, $60 million deal with $35 million guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus.
5:35 p.m. ET: The latest addition for the Patriots came as a little bit of a surprise. The Patriots reportedly agreed to a two-year deal with backup quarterback Joshua Dobbs, according to a social media post by his agent Mike McCartney.

4:50 p.m. ET: The Patriots continue to keep their focus on their defense in free agency. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the Patriots are signing former Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga to a one-year, $2.7 million deal.
4 p.m. ET: Another team in need of an offensive tackle filled the void.
The Washington Commanders acquired left tackle Laremy Tunsil in a trade with the Houston Texans, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Washington will send a 2025 third-rounder, a 2026 second-rounder and 2026 fourth-rounder to Houston. Washington will receive Tunsil and a fourth-rounder in return.
With the Commanders and Chiefs both adding left tackles, it should mean less competition for the Patriots. The Texans, however, now will need to add a left tackle of their own.

3:26 p.m. ET: Veteran offensive lineman Patrick Mekari reached an agreement with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported the deal is for three years and $37.5 million with $20 million guaranteed.
The Patriots showed interest in Mekari, according to MassLive’s Mark Daniels. Mekari has experience all over the offensive line having played both guard and tackle.
2:10 p.m. ET: The Patriots have agreed to terms with star defensive tackle Milton Williams, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. Williams will received $26 million annually, per Rapoport.
The deal comes after Williams reportedly was finalizing a deal with the Carolina Panthers. The Arizona Cardinals also were lurking for Williams, per The Athletic.

1:33 p.m. ET: The Patriots agreed to terms with veteran right tackle Morgan Moses, according to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo. It’s a three-year, $24 million deal worth up to $28.5 million, per Garofalo.
Sports Illustrated Albert Breer reported Moses will get $11 million guaranteed.
1:09 p.m. ET: The Patriots have agreed to terms with cornerback Carlton Davis, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported its a three-year deal worth $60 million.
Davis joins Christian Gonzalez as another high-end cornerback in the secondary.
1:02 p.m. ET: Veteran offensive tackle Dan Moore is headed to the Tennessee Titans, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. It’s a four-year, $82 million deal for Moore.
The Patriots reportedly were content with Moore as a backup plan if they couldn’t sign Ronnie Stanley, who re-signed with the Baltimore Ravens over the weekend.
1:01 p.m. ET: Milton Williams is finalizing a deal with the Carolina Panthers, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. The star defensive tackle was rumored to be a top target for the Patriots.
12:41: p.m. ET: The Patriots have agreed to terms with linebacker Robert Spillane, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported it was a three-year deal worth $37 million.
12:10 p.m. ET: Chris Godwin is headed back to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. It’s a three-year, $66 million deal with $44 million guaranteed.
Godwin was reported to be a “top target” for the Patriots, given New England’s need at wide receiver.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the Patriots were coming at Godwin “very hard.” Schefter said the Patriots “wanted to get it done” before the Buccaneers retained the pass-catcher.
12:05 p.m. ET: The Chiefs reportedly agreed to terms with offensive tackle Jaylon Moore, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter on ESPN’s “Free Agency Countdown.”
Moore was mentioned as a potential fit for the Patriots, who need help at offensive tackle. New England also is thought to be interested in offensive tackles Cam Robinson and Dan Moore.
12 p.m. ET: The legal tampering window is open.

The Patriots are signing Pro Bowl outside linebacker Harold Landry III to a three-year, $43.5 million deal, according to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero.
