Jones played in New England for nearly a decade
Jonathan Jones clearly will be missed around One Patriot Place.
Jones was a great success story in New England, where he joined the Patriots in 2016 as an undrafted free agent and went on to win two Super Bowls over nine seasons with the organization. The versatile defensive back decided to leave the Patriots on Wednesday when he reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Washington Commanders.
The 31-year-old penned a heartfelt goodbye to New England, the Patriots and their fans upon making his free-agent decision. Jones shared the letter via an Instagram post, which prompted a slew of reactions from his now-former teammates.

Jones wasnโt the only former Patriots leader who reportedly agreed to take his talents to the nationโs capital Wednesday. Deatrich Wise, who joined New England one year after Jones, reportedly will return to his DMV roots and play for the Commanders in 2025.
