The New England Patriots addressed some needs during free agency and now prepare for another consequential selection in the NFL draft.

New England holds the No. 4 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. They already have their franchise quarterback in Drake Maye, so a big addition to the offensive line or a skill position player feels likely for the Patriots.

Colorado’s Travis Hunter would be ideal for the Patriots. He excelled as both a wide receiver and cornerback in college and he’s completely capable of making an impact on either side of the ball in the NFL. The question for New England becomes if Hunter is still on the board when the franchise is on the clock.

WEEI’s Greg Hill on his radio show Wednesday floated rumors of “whispers” around the organization that the Patriots would indeed draft Hunter if he is available at the No. 4 overall spot.

Hunter would be a strong candidate for the Patriots at that pick along with Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter and LSU offensive lineman Will Campbell. Any of those players can raise New England’s ceiling higher for 2025 and beyond.
