Boston moved to 5-0 on the road trip
The Boston Celtics took a trip to Texas on Saturday to visit the San Antonio Spurs at Frost Bank Center.
Boston improved to 55-19 with a 121-111 win while San Antonio fell to 31-42.
The Celtics got plenty of production from across the board without a true dominant effort from one player on the floor. Boston took advantage on the glass and set plenty of pace in the rebounding game.
The Celtics swept the season series following their 116-103 win over San Antonio at TD Garden on Feb. 12, which started a busy night in Boston sports when news broke of the Red Sox signing Alex Bregman. Boston improved to 5-0 on the road trip with a chance to sweep the set Monday against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Here are three studs and one dud from Boston’s win:
STUDS
Jayson Tatum
The Celtics star set the tone for the starters on the glass with eight rebounds. He posted his points with 29 on the night at a 10-of-22 clip from the floor. He quickly erased any concern from a brief injury absence with an impactful double-double — Tatum tallied 10 rebounds — for the Celtics.
Jrue Holiday
Holiday’s scoring numbers continue to improve for the Celtics in March.
The Boston guard tallied 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Saturday marked Holiday’s second 20-plus point game of the month and just his fifth such game of the season for the Celtics.
Luke Kornet
No player set the tone of the game better than Kornet Saturday night. The Celtics big man cleaned up on the glass and made a scoring impact around the rim. He had multiple impact games on this trip and improved that effort Saturday night.
Kornet gave the Celtics 15 points and 16 rebounds in an impressive double-double for Boston.
DUDS
Baylor Scheierman
The Celtics rookie didn’t even play poorly. He just happened to be the only Boston player on the floor to not post a double-digit scoring performance, finishing with seven points on 2-of-4 shooting across 19 minutes on the floor.
