Why Opening Day Comeback Fueled Growing Red Sox Hype

Boston stormed back to win Thursday

The Boston Red Sox started the 2025 season with momentum thanks to an energetic 5-2 comeback win on Opening Day over the Texas Rangers.

Wilyer Abreu played hero with a pair of home runs and four runs batted in while Justin Slaten earned the save for the Red Sox. Garrett Crochet tossed five innings of two-run ball on the mound in his Boston debut.

The team made an early statement on Opening Day against a prime contender for the American League West title in 2025.

George Balekji and Kasey Hudson broke down the Red Sox’s win on the latest episode of NESN’s “Boston Has Entered The Chat” podcast.

The Red Sox and Rangers meet again Friday night at Globe Life Field. First pitch is set for 8:05 p.m. ET. You can catch the game, plus an hour of pregame coverage, on NESN.
